HOLDING THE HIGH GROUND DOES NOT GUARANTEE A WIN

by Bob Walsh

Roger Perez, 24, of Orinda, CA. may have miscalculated the benefit of holding the high ground in an armed conflict in Fremont on Monday night.

Cops responded to a call of a man with a gun at a stop-and-rob. When the cops responded Perez fled across the street to a Walgreens, where he climbed on top of a box truck and then opened fire on the cops. They shot back. The cops shot better than Perez. Perez died. No cops were hurt.

Box trucks are not bullet proof. In fact their sides and roof are light weight materials suitable for concealment but not cover. But they don't hide vermin very well.
