The Chicago city attorney has in fact filed a claim against Jussie Smollett for a tad over $130,000 for police expenses in his bullshit hate crime report. So far he is still pretending to be an actual victim and threatening to countersue for defamation. (Ask Oscar Wilde how well that works and how dangerous it is.)
In addition the Cook County I. G. is looking into the operations of the prosecutor's office to see if Ms. Foxx has in fact done something grotesquely stupid, grossly inappropriate or even illegal in her action to ashcan the Smollett case.
I have no doubt that the Cook County I G is a political hack, it is after all Chicago. That being said it is barely possible that he/she (I have no idea who it actually is) may be interested in climbing the ladder and does not mind doing it over the broken bodies of Smollett and Foxx.
It is even possible they want to do the right thing for the right reason, though in Chicago I would say that is a chump's bet.
