An unnamed Metro Transit Officer was hanging out on the Old Town trolley station in Dago early Friday afternoon when a man attacked him without warning and tried to grab his service weapon. During the fight the officer got ahold of his own toad sticker and stabbed the attacker. The gun grabber at that time beat feet, but was arrested an hour later by a SDPD officer and his K-9 partner.
The Transit Officer was somewhat knocked around but not seriously injured. The bad guy has a stab wound to the chest which presumably isn't too bad or he wouldn't have been on the run for an hour.
I haven't heard of an on-duty cop stabbing a bad guy in a very long time. Whatever works.
