Over the weekend Donald Trump notified congress that he was firing Michael Atkinson, who was the Inspector General for the intelligence community. He was the guy who kept the identity of the Ukraine whistle blower secret. The law requires that an actual "whistle blower" be protected. It does not require that his / her name be kept secret. Also there is strong reason to believe that the person did not come close to meeting the legal definition of a person needing whistle blower protection but was in fact a shill operating for Adam Schiff.
This situation was, at least in theory, the thing that gave the House a handle to start impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
Atkinson leaving requires a 30 day notice. He is now on administrative leave waiting for the calendar to run out.
The Director of National Intelligence did NOT agree with Atkinson's assessment of the Ukrainian phone call, and said so. For that matter, neither did the Ukrainians.
