DON'T WHIP IT OUT UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO USE IT

by Bob Walsh

On Sunday the Pastor of a Methodist Church in Winona, TX, was shot and killed with his own gun by a man the cops were actively looking for.

The pastor apparently found the man hiding in a church bathroom.  He pulled a pistol and ordered the man out.  He either got to close to was  not willing to drop the hammer when push came to shove and the bad guy was able to disarm him and shot and killed him. He also shot and injured a parish member and took off in the pastor's car.

The bad guy was caught by the cops a bit up the road and, surprisingly, survived being arrested.

I sort of hate to dump on the dead guy under the circumstances, but you need to remember that a modest amount of distance is your friend and you do not want to put a gun into play unless you are willing to use it if push comes to shove.
