SCOTUS LARGELY BACKS TRUMP ON IMMUNITY

By Bob Walsh

By a vote of 6-3 SCOTUS ruled that the president enjoys significant immunity from prosecution for his official acts, as opposed to his non-official, personal acts.  It is pretty much everything Trump wanted and could reasonably expect to get.

The court of course was fuzzy about what was an official act and what was a private act.  They sent the matter back to the lower court.

This will mean that the Smith prosecution of Trump is in severe doubt.  Smith and the court will have to get together to decide which specific acts Donald Trump is accused of committing are private acts and which are public acts.  In the meantime there is the real possibility that the courts will decide that Smith's appointment is in and of itself unconstitutional.  If that happens the prosecution (persecution?) of Trump will be delayed for a long bloody time and may very possibly be shot down completely.

As one might expect the sob sisters on SCOTUS are wringing their hands over the thought that Trump is going to become an all-powerful dictator.  It's not true, but sob sisters don't need anything resembling truth.

Personally I am happy with this.  It will be difficult to get reasonable people to want to be president if they look forward to the prospect of being sued and prosecuted for years after they leave office by every prosecutor who doesn't like them.  Ideally we will get people elected who behave reasonably, honorably and honestly.  Ideally.
