Exterior damage of the USS Harry S. Truman is viewed from an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter
There was a collision at sea two nights ago off of Port Said, Egypt when the USS Harry Truman and a Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier attempted to occupy the same space at the same time.
The Truman had just emerged from the Red Sea and was heading into the Mediterranean Sea when it collided with the vessel heading from Jordan towards Romania. (I didn't even know Romania had a sea port.) The bulk carrier was not seriously damaged and went on about it's business. There is some concern about some of the systems of the Truman that may have sustained damage.
There is a major investigation into the collision. The Truman was traveling with only one escort at the time, the USS Jason Dunham.
