I am getting tired of all the
Charlie Kirk tributes. I really am. I will happily acknowledge that he
was an extraordinary fellow. He was bright and articulate. He was
happy to give mike time to his opponents. He encouraged this activity.
He did not hate or demean his opponents (though he often showed
observers how shallow they could be in their thinking or lack thereof).
My only real beef with him was his in-your-face Christianity. I have
had some issues with other such people in that they often seem to think
that if you do not believe as they believe you are somehow lesser than
they are. I am cautious of committed Christians for this reason. They
make me nervous.
As far as I
can tell he was a good man, a fine husband and an outstanding father.
He talked the talk and walked the walk. That's fine. That's more than
fine. But do we have to spend the next unknown number of weeks telling
everybody on the planet how wonderful he was and what a douche his
murderer was? Isn't there ANYTHING ELSE going on in the world that is
worth talking about?
