SO, HOW Will THE FRENCH ELECTION COME OUT?

by Bob Walsh

It is distinctly possible that by this evening the numbers will be in for the French presidential election. Unless somebody got more than 50%, which nobody figures will happen, the top two vote getters will do a run-off in two weeks.

Right now one-third of the electorate are telling the pollsters that they are undecided. Which does not really mean they are undecided. I strongly suspect (for what my suspicions may be worth to you) that they are very much like the closet Trump voters I wrote about last November. Not to say they will vote for a conservative. I do think however that closet voters definitely move to the edges.

If France goes with that nativist-populist anti-E.U. it will mean the end of the E.U. and a severe kick for NATO. (She doesn't much like the U. S. either.) If they go with the leftie it will also not be good, but a different sort of not good. But hell, you never know, the French might do something reasonable and appropriate. It's possible. It's also possible the sun will rise in the West tomorrow morning.

If you are a country, be a country. This EU everyone joined was a tragic experiment is quasi-socialism. Guess what? It didn't work. It sounded great in the beginning but as nations began to decline, others had to bail them out. Now in the classic example of socialism they are running out of other people's money.

First there was Brexit, then Trump and now France may come on board. It's still a close race but if one more unwanted refugee attacks before May 7th I predict Le Pen will be the victor.
