NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT

by Bob Walsh

Last Saturday Alex Honnold became the first person to ever solo free-climb El Capitan. That means he scaled the 3,000 foot rock face by himself without the use of ropes or other common climbing equipment. It took him just a tad under four hours.

That, boys and girls, is a noteworthy accomplishment.

EDITOR'S NOTE: His insurance has been cancelled and there are a couple of burly guys in white coats chasing him.

I wonder how many people have been seriously injured or died climbing that big hunk of granite with good equipment?
