The
teeming metropolis of Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis, has
decided to form an unarmed group of civilian police employees who are
not law enforcement officers to deal with "non-moving traffic
violations." (Aren't those typically called Parking Tickets?)
The vote of the city council was 4-1.
This cadre would also respond to mental health crisis calls.
This
proposal stems from a expired tag traffic stop that went sideways when
it was discovered the driver had a felony warrant for fleeing the cops
and illegal possession of a gun. The bad guy ended up dead.
