Ma is the Treasurer of the formerly great state of California. Judith
Blackwell was the executive director of the CA Tax Credit Allocation
Committee. Ma is Oriental. Blackwell is Black.
Blackwell
is asserting that Ma has made very unsubtle sexual advances to her,
including climbing into bed with her on trips. Ma also allegedly gave
her expensive gifts including jewelry and weed. The two women often
went out to meals together, along with Ma's Chief of Staff.
In
September Blackwell had a stroke which prevented her from working for
two months. When she returned to work she alleges Ma piled massive
amounts of work on her, forcing her to regularly work late into the
night. In January Blackwell was fired. She was replaced by a White
woman, who is allegedly less qualified than Blackwell to do the job.
Ma denies all the allegations and asserts that she has refused offers to settle.
