A Michigan woman is facing felony charges for shooting her neighbor’s cat in the neck with a crossbow — claiming the animal was attacking her own pets, deputies said.

Taylor Rose Shipman, 23, of East Tawas, surrendered to authorities Monday on one count of third-degree killing or torturing an animal after an orange cat named Oliver was discovered on his owner’s porch July 15 with a crossbow bolt sticking out of his neck.

Oliver the cat as his owner, Eric R. Erickson, found him on the afternoon of July 15, 2021, with a crossbow bolt sticking through him. Oliver received veterinary care and survived.

I am not fond of cats. That being said I am opposed to killing or attempting to kill other people's cats except under extreme conditions. If she really thought it was rabid she should have called animal control. Her story does not pass the smell test.
