NYC corrections officer charged with gang assault
A New York City corrections officer was arrested and charged with attempted gang assault, police said Friday.
Jimmy Wu, 28, was picked up around 9:40 a.m. on Friday for the June 27 attack, cops said.
The officer, whose been with the agency since 2017, is accused of participating in a group beatdown of a 20-year-old on a street corner in Chinatown around 4 a.m., police said.
Wu and the other suspects got into a verbal dispute with the man, who was stabbed in the torso with an unknown sharp object, cops said.
It’s not clear if Wu stabbed the individual.
He was charged with attempted gang assault, attempted assault, assault and menacing.
Wu last year earned $65,306 from his position and couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
