HONEST (?) IGNORANCE

With Whoopi Goldberg, I Think Maybe Yes

Whoopi Goldberg, who some deluded people think of as being a serious and reasonable social commentator, got suspended from THE VIEW for stepping on her metaphorical dick while making some comments about race and The Holocaust. 

She opined that the Jews are not in fact a racial group but that the Holocaust was an incident of man's inhumanity to man in general.  When she tried for a sort-of apology she dug herself into a deeper hole.

I can understand her situation.  She is Black.  She is an American.  She views "race" as being mostly a Black and a non-Black situation.  She views White people as generically the same.  Also, in all fairness to her, Jews themselves are still arguing about whether Jewishness is an ethnic identity, a racial identity, a religious identity, a cultural identity or a combination thereof.  

Nevertheless she stepped in it and will have to eat a couple of large servings of humble pie.  Life is hard.
