The formerly great state of
California is planning to put in 90,000 public access EV charging
stations along highways and in "vulnerable communities" (whatever the
fuck that means) by the end of 2025. The project will cost about $3
billion in tax payers dollars. (I wonder how much taxpayer money went
to build gas stations?) They wanted to go for 250,000 stations but just
couldn't scare up the ducats to swing that.
Most
of these will be level 2 chargers, which take 4-8 hours to top your
battery off. The Direct Current Fast Chargers can do the job in 15-30
minutes but cost a LOT more money. I guess that means a LONG lunch at a
state rest stop if you have to stop at South Buttcrack to top off your
EV on the way to Disneyland. Of course I guess Denny's and IHOP will
start putting them in too.

The money pit jokingly known as the California High-Speed Rail Authority is now using the South West Airline meltdown as an excuse to pimp for the continuation of a program to throw money down a toilet. It is so sad and stupid but yet it continues.
