There is a spillway failure of
some sort, presumably overtopping, at the North Fork Dam in San Benito
County, CA. This has already lead to some problems in the vicinity of
the Pacheco Pass Reservoir. The National Weather Service is urging
people downstream to get the hell out in case the dam suffers a major
failure.
The flooding in
the vicinity of Sacramento is now known to have claimed five lives. The
second wave of the storms is heading in even as I pound this out on the
keyboard. It is supposed to be not quite as bad as was Saturday but we
are looking at several days of steady rain and at least one or two
bouts of major wind activity.
I guess I am probably not going to the gun show in Sacatomato on Saturday. Bummer. I am OCD, but I am not stupid. Mostly.
