THE PRICE OF DELIBERATELY IGNORING PROBLEMS

By Bob Walsh

The Tennessee police chief has fired amid a scandal surrounding an ex-cop’s wild sex bangs

One of the jobs of the boss is to have at least a reasonable idea of what the hell your subordinates are doing.  If you don't, you run the risk of having failure bite you on the ass.

Burrel "Chip" Davis just found that out the hard way.  He was, until yesterday, the Chief of Police of La Vergne, Tennessee.  Regular readers will remember that La Vergne is where the on-duty P D officers were essentially running an on-going orgy.  Five officers were fired.

The principle bad actor, former officer Maegan Hall, has filed an EEOC complaint with the state.  Her complaint is that Davis oversaw an environment that fostered misconduct.  Kind of an interesting take.  "It is your fault that you let me get away with this shit for so long."  Hell, it might even work.

A third-party investigator hired by the city concluded that Davis was aware of the situation but took no steps to deal with it until it blew up in his face in public.  It also found that Davis slow-dragged and interfered with the investigation.
