The President's son ha pleaded guilty to charges that may put him in prison for 17 years.
And that's not even the biggest scandal of the day.
The real outrage is how close Robert Hunter Biden got to getting away with it all – and why he still might.
The Bidens: Corrupt and gaming the system to the end.
Years
after Hunter's abandoned laptop revealed the depths of his drug-addled
debauchery while hawking access to the US, he was finally hauled before a
federal court in July 2023 to answer for tax evasion and gun charges.
And Joe Biden's Justice Department tried to bury the whole thing.
Months earlier, President Biden declared in an MSNBC interview, 'My son has done nothing wrong.'
The message, it seemed, was heard loud and clear.
Last summer, under a sweetheart plea agreement crafted by Delaware
U.S. Attorney David Weiss, Hunter was offered the chance to plead
guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges, accept probation for the gun
charges and likely avoid any jail time.

That wasn't all.
The
deal would also have granted him immunity from any potential future
criminal charges – even as federal prosecutors began to unwind his
secret dealings with shady overseas clients and look into whether he
violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which requires
Americans to be transparent about their work for foreign entities.
It was a deal that no ordinary citizen would receive.
And a U.S. District Judge took one look at Weiss's deal – and, essentially, threw it out of her courtroom.
It also wasn't the only gift slipped to the President's son.
Weiss and the Justice Department's tax division let the statute of limitations run out on other possible tax charges.
IRS whistleblowers told Congress that the DOJ obstructed their investigation into the matters.
And
scrambling for cover amid allegations of political interference,
Biden's attorney general, Merrick Garland, belatedly agreed to appoint
an independent outside prosecutor to take over the case – then hired the
same David Weiss for the job.
Even if
the fix was in, Weiss couldn't be too obvious about it. So, he ended up
bringing felony gun charges against Hunter, and a Delaware jury
convicted Hunter on the very charges that Weiss had originally agreed to
let him skate on.
Now, on the eve of
his second trial in Los Angeles (this one for three tax felonies and six
misdemeanors carrying a maximum sentence of 17 years in prison), Hunter
tried a different tack – pleading guilty… but with a catch!
Years after Hunter's abandoned
laptop revealed the depths of his drug-addled debauchery while hawking
access to the US, he was finally hauled before a federal court in July
2023 to answer for tax evasion and gun charges.
In
a surprise announcement, Biden's lawyer informed the court that his
client was entering an 'Alford' plea – a legal technicality that permits
a criminal defendant to concede that the state has sufficient evidence
against them while maintaining his innocence.
It's
no surprise why Hunter is desperate to avoid another trial. Legal
experts are convinced that he should have been tried for violating FARA –
and he likely wants to avoid being forced to reveal the full extent of
his alleged dirty dealings.
But that gambit, too, failed.
Hours
later, Hunter team's changed course, telling the court that he would
plead guilty to all nine tax charges, bringing us nearer to a conclusion
of this ridiculous charade.
For now.
Hunter has one more card to play: the presidential pardon or a commutation of his sentence.
Last summer, under a sweetheart
plea agreement crafted by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss (above),
Hunter was offered the chance to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax
charges, accept probation for the gun charges and likely avoid any jail
time.
When Joe was still running
for re-election, he said he wouldn't do that. But if the Big Guy goes
back on his word after Election Day, nobody can hold him accountable –
or, more importantly, can stop him.
In
case you've wondered why he hasn't resigned from office even though his
daily schedule shows that he spends most days on vacation as he
approaches his 82nd birthday, remember this.
The Biden family has made millions from foreign clients for decades. They've gamed the system at every turn.
Joe
walked away from any charges for his own mishandling of classified
documents when special prosecutor Robert Hur concluded that he was too
old and forgetful to be convicted by a jury.
Now,
his son falls on his sword to avoid a trial on the family's
influence-peddling business – and he might still have a Get Out of Jail
Free card from Dad.
It's the Biden racket, cynical and arrogant to the last.

There is no doubt in my mind that Joe left a horses head in Hunter's bed. They made him an offer he couldn't refuse. And, as noted, there is a very good chance that Joe will bail him out on his way out the door at 1600 Pennsylvania AVe.
Similar to the Clintons, Bushes and Kennedys. The Biden dynasty is over.
