Inset: Robert Brians appearing in court. Background: Brians’ car after he intentionally drove it off a cliff with his twin daughters inside
Robert Brians, 51, has just been sentenced to 31 years as
a guest of the people of the formerly great state of California. He
copped to two counts of attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping and
assorted child abuse and domestic violence charges. Back on June 13,
2020, he snatched the girls from their mother's house at about 0430 and
threatened to kill them. He sent her a text saying, "The girls are
going to heaven and I am going to hell to wait for you." At the time he
was out on bond on a felony charge.
He
drove off of Sunset Cliffs in San Diego County at about 70 mph. The
cops actually saw his truck go off the cliff. A k-9 officer used a 100
foot lead to rappel down the cliff into the water and rescued the
asshole and the two girls who all survived the impact. The truck came
down on it's roof. Office Wiese got a Carnegie Medal for his actions.
The
asshole has also been ordered to stay away from the girls for at least
ten years (shouldn't be hard as he will be in prison for at least ten of
those 31 years, probably) and cough up $20,000 in fines, which is
probably never going to happen.
