A Houston police officer has been relieved of duty after a Saturday morning misdemeanor drunk driving arrest.

Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, police allegedly found Officer Ronald Gilbert passed out drunk in his patrol car while on duty in the 15200 block of Galveston Road.

He's since been relieved of duty, pending a resolution to the case, an HPD spokeswoman said.

Gilbert was released Saturday on $500 bond and is due back in court Friday, according to court records.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Perhaps it was too much of a Stinko de Mayo celebration.

Time to admit you have a problem and get help through the program offered by the city.

Only one strike in this game.
