There is no doubt at all in my mind that Trump will appoint someone to the vacancy in the Supreme Court. With luck the Senate will manage to confirm, though one or two RINO psuedo-Republicans will pee on the parade if they can. The Democraps will scream that it is "unfair" or "unseemly" or "not right" for Trump to do this so close to an election. He won't give a shit. They won't vote for whoever he names anyway.
I look at it this way. This will be one VERY GOOD way for him to help solidify the future of the Republic, if he can pull it off. Go for it Orange Man.
