There
was a very nasty fire in Stockton two days ago. It totally destroyed
five homes and badly damaged three other homes. The fire was apparently
started deliberately by a homeless person camping along the railroad
right of way who may have been offended by a new residential back fence
intended to keep the homeless campers off of the private residential
property.
One
of the fire victims said that typically the railroad kept the long
grass in the area cut back, but that had not been done lately. It
wasn't clear if that was due to the homeless camp being there or some
other cause.
