The
bad guy, driving a black pickup truck, ran down two people in
Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento, on Monday morning. He then bailed
out and attacked a third person with a crowbar, and a fourth with either
the crowbar or a handgun he was also holding.
A
bystander had come out to help one of the people run down by the truck,
when the truck circled back around and hit the good samaritan. The bad
guy then drove off, tail-ended a vehicle and pushed it about 100
yards. The bad guy then attacked the driver of that car with a
crowbar. The victim fled to another vehicle where an off duty security
guard gave him refuge.
At
that point the bad guy began brandishing a firearm and approached a
trailer in the parking lot of the Carmichael Elks Lodge. A man exited
the trailer and began fighting with the bad guy. The good guy was shot
in the altercation.
Then a second man exited the trailer. He was smart enough to bring his own gat. He shot the asshole.
The
very first person injured, one of the people run down by the truck, has
died. The asshole is in custody. Other than general assholeishness
(and possible substance abuse or mental health issues) the cause of all
this is unknown. It is not believed the bad guy had any acquaintance
with any of the good guys injured.
