I
have been sort-of following the debacle of the pancaked condo in
Surfside, Florida. One of the more interesting revelations is that a
structural engineer reported THREE YEARS AGO that the building had some
significant structural problems that needed to be addressed. Also,
there had been a local building inspector at the building the day before
it crashed down.
It will
be very interesting to see who screwed the pooch on this one. I am
sure people are busy buying asbestos shorts and putting their assets in
their children's names, because you can damn well be a few somebodies
are going to get their asses sued off over this. As well they should.
The
twin to this building is being inspected even now. All of the large
buildings in Surfside are supposed to be inspected within the next 30
days. It will be interesting to see what they find and what comes of
those findings.
