The
city of San Jose, CA (the heat of Silicon Valley) has decided, by
unanimous vote of the city council, that will force legal gun owners to
take out liability insurance and pay an annual gun tax to the city to
compensate the city for gun related expenses, including property damage,
personal injury and emergency dispatch costs.
The
exact amount of the tax has yet to be determined. The mayor's office
speculated that this figure will exceed $400 million per year.
Various
Second Amendment groups and honest citizens who don't have their heads
firmly up their asses are planning to sue the city over this
legislation.
The fact
that legal gun owners are bad actors in almost zero gun crime does not
seem to matter to the snowflakes in San Jose. It also isn't real clear
how they will compel illegal gun owners, who ARE the problem, to obtain
insurance and pay a tax.
