The
New York City Board of Elections is, if news reports are to be
believed, populated by political hacks appointed to the board by their
uncles, cousins, fathers-in-law and similar neer-do-wells.
The
board has just collectively copped to screwing the pooch big time in
last weeks mayoral primary. It seems that they "accidentally" ran about
135,000 test ballots in with the regular ballots for the official
count. Whoops.
The city
has for the first time used rank choice voting which was not expected to
give a firm result until several weeks after the election anyway.
Prior
to this mess Eric Adams, Brooklyn borough president, had a significant
lead. He was a New York cop, retiring with the rank of Captain. If
elected he will become the second Black mayor of New York City. The
first was the disastrous David Dinkins, possibly the most incompetent
idiot to run a major city prior to the current Lori Lightfoot in
Chicago..
