Madison Cawthorn caught with loaded handgun AGAIN at Charlotte airport, this time a Staccato C2 Madison Cawthorn, 26, was cited for possession of a dangerous weapon on city property

Rep. Madison Cawthorn was reportedly caught with a loaded gun at a North Carolina airport on Tuesday, April 26. The loaded Staccato C2 9mm handgun was found by Transportation Security Administration workers in Cawthorn's bag during security screening at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

"Douglas International Airport Division received notification from the Transportation Security Administration that a firearm had been located in a bag at a security screening checkpoint. Responding CMPD officers identified the owner of the bag containing the firearm as David Madison Cawthorn DOB: 08/01/1995. Mr. Cawthorn stated that the firearm was his and he was cooperative with the CMPD officers," Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a tweet.

Staccato C2

The Stacco C2 is built in Texas where they proudly build their guns with the goal of “inspiring confidence.”

"Mr. Cawthorn was issued a citation for Possession of a Dangerous Weapon on City Property, which is a City of Charlotte Ordinance. Mr. Cawthorn was released, and the CMPD took possession of the firearm, which is normal procedure," it added. "It is standard procedure for the CMPD Airport Division to cite in lieu of arrest for the misdemeanor charge of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon on City Property unless there are other associated felony charges or extenuating circumstances."

The North Carolina Republican's gun was recovered at Checkpoint D, the Charlotte Observer reported. He was cited for possession of a dangerous weapon on city property, the department said. Cawthorn was released but his weapon was confiscated. Police said that this was only standard protocol to not arrest a passenger on the misdemeanor charges “unless there are other associated felony charges or extenuating circumstances.”

This is not the first time Cawthorn has been caught with a loaded gun at an airport. In February 2021, the 26-year-old was cited when he attempted to board an airplane in Asheville with a Glock 9mm and loaded magazine on his carry-on luggage. The Glock handgun was confiscated by security but he was allowed to board the plane.

Cawthorn was elected in 2020. Recently, the congressman irked lawmakers by comparing DC to Netflix’s hit political series 'House of Cards'. He reportedly said that the nation’s capital is filled with cocaine-fueled orgies. “The sexual perversion that goes on in Washington. I mean, being kind of a young guy in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70 — [you] look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics,” Cawthorn said. "Then all of a sudden you get invited: ‘We’re going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come.’ ‘What did you just ask me to come to?’ And then you realize they’re asking you to come to an orgy."

Was this gun found in his checked luggage? Of course, checked luggage cannot be locked unless it has a TSA lock. In other words, you cannot secure checked luggage. There have been plenty of instances of checked luggage missing items once arriving at the destination. I'll wager it wouldn't take much to place an item in checked luggage either. I wonder how many people he pissed off with his orgy comment?
