NAVY NOW HAS A CO-ED SUBMARINE

ByBob Walsh

USS New Jersey submarine

The U.S.S, New Jersey is a co-ed submarine, the first of the fast-attack submarines in the navy to bear this distinction.  The Virginia Class sub was just launched.

It was planned like this from the start.  The ship is designed with lower valves in a lot of plumbing that work with less force needed to operate as a consideration to the female crew who are typically somewhat shorter and have somewhat less upper body strength than male sailors.  The ship was also designed with more shitters and showers and with a greater degree of berthing area segregation than would be typical in a single-sex submarine.

There are about 135 crew on a Virginia class submarine of which about 10% are commissioned officers.

EDITOR'S NOTE: What an awful waste of taxpayer money. They spent millions of dollars to accommodate the few women that would want to serve on a submarine. I've looked at several pictures of the crew and I could not spot any women.

This fits right in with using drag queens for Navy recruiting.
