Volvo
announced today that their earlier plans to go all electric by 2030 are
dropping onto the ash heap of history. One more company shakes off
Green Idiocy.
I am
confident that at some point the internal combustion engine will largely
(though not completely) go away in the normal course of personal
transport. It will, however, not happen any time real soon. The
battery technology and the infrastructure will just not support it yet
despite what the Greenies would like to have you believe.

I've owned many fine vehicles over the years. Last year we bought a Toyota Crown Hybrid. Yep, it's a EV and with a gasoline engine. I traded in a 2020 GMC Yukon which I would fill up for $70 a week. Now we average $20 per week on gasoline. We enjoy the car especially on road trips where we can adjust the ride and climate controlled seats. My insurance costs less, but the vehicle tracks driving history and even though I don't really speed, I don't like being spied on but our cell phones were already tracking us. It even reads road signs and notifies me about school zones and upcoming traffic issues. Oh, it even tells me about upcoming speed traps. Most of all it has plenty of power. If something needs attention, I am notified by my iPhone. Overall we are happy with the car.
I'd like to add that this morning my wife showed me an email we received from XXXXXXXX Insurance. It offered us lower insurance due to Toyota forwarding our driving data to them. I also saw where GM is being sued for tracking customers vehicles and have decided to stop. We knew Toyota was tracking us because they notified us and they have a similar system like On-Star but it doesn't charge for the service. We can opt out of tracking but have decided that the safety aspect of the service is worth keeping it.
