Pictured above are officers investigating the scene of the shooting that left four homeless people dead
U.S. District Court Judge Iain Johnston just ruled in
Illinois that the Illinois ban on licensed permit holders carrying on
rapid transit is unconstitutional based on the Bruen decision. The
ruling, as presented, only affects the four individual plaintiffs in the
lawsuit, but it is anticipated that the ruling will spread out if not
successfully appealed.
It
is unknown whether or not the state will appeal. The recent mass
shooting of sleeping homeless people on Chicago rapid transit may have
some affect on the decision. The suspected shooter is now in custody in
that case.
