it is at this point a modest win indeed, but it could turn into something bigger in the Trump administration's fight against the Sanctuary State status of the formerly great state of California.
Trump has been sitting on a $1 million grant (pocket change for the feds and maybe the state too) due to the state's bullshit Sanctuary State position. The state sued to attempt to force the feds to kick down. The feds countered, asking the state's action be dismissed.
U. S. District Court Judge William Orrick acted Monday, saying there are "weighty and novel constitutional issues" presented. He refused to dismiss the state's legal action, but also refused to order the feds to kick down the money. Both parties will now have to fight it out further in court.
