CALIFORNIA'S CALTRANS IS LOOKING FOR PEOPLE

by Bob Walsh

Caltrans wants to increase it's staff by 10% over the next five years. They want to spend all the new tax money they may or may not be getting I guess. These jobs will be anywhere from maintenance people to architects and engineers.

They are so desperate that they are trying to get around current civil service rules. In fact last week they tried to throw out an existing promotional list so they could use a different one which included people from outside of the organization.

The State Personnel Board has been a little slow to approve such changes, pointing out that it is hard to justify tweaking rules for new jobs when they have not yet managed to fill many existing positions.

Applications are online. Go for it.
