The
Sacramento County Board of Supervisors resisted calls to defund the
Sheriff's Office and indeed approved a modest increase in the Sheriff's
funding.
Much of this was in response to court orders about jail
conditions and a lot of it was done with one-time federal money related
to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it just might be possible that the "mostly
peaceful" rioting, looting and arson has convinced the board that less
policing is a bad thing.
