lone gunman walked up to the side of a LA P.D. vehicle parked near a
transit station in Compton Saturday evening and fired numerous pistol
shots thru the open passenger side window, striking both deputies
multiple times. The shooter then fled on foot. The deputies are in
critical condition. There was surveillance footage but it is hard to
say how useful it will be.

The headline is right. The text is wrong. They are Sheriff's Deputies, not LAPD. My bad.
