Jacob
Gordon Thompson, 27, was a Georgia State Trooper. On August 15 he used
a PIT maneuver on a car fleeing a routine traffic issue - a broken tail light. The car went
into a ditch. Thompson asserts that the driver, Julian Edward Roosevelt
Lewis, 60, was attempted to get the car out of the ditch and run down
the officer so the officer shot and killed him.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Thompson a week later on a charge of felony murder and aggravated assault.
As you might expect Thompson is White and Lewis is Black.
Screven
County Chief Judge F. Gates Peed ruled three days ago that Thompson
will be held in custody and will not be granted bail.
