COP SHOT IN MINNESOTA AMBUSH

by Bob Walsh

On Sunday morning the Albera Lea P D responded to a noise complaint which may or may not have had a weapons complaint associated with it at the Shady Oaks apartment complex.

According to the local constabulary when the cops drove up Devin Matthew Weiland, 21, opened up on them when they arrived.  One of the officers took one round in the chest.  I am guessing he was wearing a vest because his partner drove him to the hospital where he was treated and released.

In the mean time the local SWAT people showed up.  They ordered apartment residents to shelter in place while they got set up with tear gas.

They took Weiland into custody successfully.  Two other people got shot somewhere along the line.  (The journalistic quality of the Rochester Post-Bulletin leaves much to be desired.)  Nobody died, the bad guy is in custody, so I guess that is a win.

Always wear a vest on duty. That cop should go buy a lottery ticket.
