CLUELESS POLITICAL HACKS

by Bob Walsh

There is a serious recall attempt running against the God-Emperor of the formerly great state of California, Gavin Newsom.  By serious I mean it has as reasonable chance of getting onto the ballot, and a reasonable chance of throwing him out of office if it does get onto the ballot.

California Democratic Party Chairman Rusty Hicks has said this of the attempt.  "This recall effort, which really out to be called a California coup, is being led by right-wing conspiracy theorists, white nationalist anti-vaxxers and groups who encourage violence on our democratic institutions."  Clearly the idea that an ordinary citizen would be deeply offended by Newsom's policies and profound hypocrisy does not occur to Mr. Hicks.

Other clowns in the Democrat-Socialist party tried to walk back Hicks' statement, but the anti-Newsom crowd jumped on it like olfactory offense upon excrement.  It is clearly just another example of liberal arrogance and the disintegration of reasonableness in a one-party state.  Right now 46.3% of party registrations in CA are Democrat, only 24% are Republicans, the same number being smaller parties or declined to state.

Newsom has thus far declined to comment on Hicks' classification of his opponents.

The pro-recall group has about another six weeks to obtain another 500,000 valid signatures to go with the 1,000,000 they already have.  If successful there will be a one-issue only election, which will determine if Newsom will be thrown out and, if so, who will replace him.

If the recall attempt does get on the ballot it will have at least one interest possible effect.  One of the first thing Newsom did when he became Governor was suspend the use of the death penalty in CA, even though the voters had, several times, voted not only to keep it but to streamline in.  So, if faced with removal from office will he commute all the death sentences on his way out of door or not?  It will be interesting to see (assuming we get there).
