FOR WHEN THE GOP HAS THE RIGHT LEADERS

Just File It Away for Now, and Remember the File

OK. The Democrats now have removed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from committee assignments. File it away for now.

Lookit: if we end up two years from now with Republican leaders like Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan — they really were quite a pair, weren’t they? — then fuggediboudit. But if we emerge in two years with some populist conservatives, rooted in the Trump philosophy that he epitomized but that transcends Trump himself, now they have precedent to pull out the file and throw Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and all that riff-raff and Democrat Left drek off committees.

You see how it works? Admittedly, it does not always work, but it often works. You let the Democrat Left overreach when they have the power — because, frankly, you cannot stop them if they have the power — and then you use their rules later when the tide turns. That is how we got all those amazingly great federal judges under President Trump. Harry Reid, as Democrat Senate majority leader, abandoned the filibuster on judicial appointments, and the GOP under Mitch McConnell proceeded to approve Trump judicial appointments and federal office holders by simple majorities, bypassing the filibuster.

The Democrats fabricated their #MeToo baloney in a crass effort to deny Brett Kavanaugh, a dignified and religious gentleman and family man, his rightful seat on the Supreme Court, and yet … be careful what you wish for because you just may get it. That opened the door to see a whole swath of Democrat Left detritus cleaned out of public life soon after: Al Franken, Charlie Rose, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and so much else until the Democrats finally broke down and decided that women should not be believed any more when they accuse men of sexual violence and rape. It stopped only when it threatened to hand Virginia’s state house over to the GOP and thereafter to take down Joe Biden when a woman insisted he had pressed her up against a wall and had grabbed her crotch. No more #MeToo. No more “Women Must Be Believed.” But it was good while it lasted.

So just file these away. And when the GOP has the right leaders, true populist conservatives like Trump, pull up the files and leverage them just as the Democrats now do. True, too many McCains and Mitts and Jebs! waste the opportunities. But the moments do come. Whether the next GOP president will be Trump or a similar conservative populist, that day will come, and the opportunity will arise. And on that day Ilhan Omar can be denied committee assignments, and so can Rashida Tlaib, and so can other bigots and crazies.

Remember: There always will be mental cases and nut jobs in the House. To get elected a United States senator, you must appeal to an entire state, but to be elected to the House of Representatives, you need only to win a vote in a local congressional district. Usually, that is no guarantee that a nut job will get elected because most congressional districts are comprised of reasonably intelligent people, give or take a few IQ points. But it makes it possible for a few idiots to slither in. Take Ocasio. Ocasio is not normal. Anyone who seriously tells the public that the Earth will end in nine years is a nut job, a mental case. Again: to be brutally honest and painfully fair, the mere fact that a person advocates wrong-headed or even dangerous views does not make a person a nut job. The mere fact that a person has no sense of history — thinks that the 22nd Amendment was enacted to stop Franklin Roosevelt even though it was passed in 1951 after FDR died in 1945 — means she is pitifully ignorant and unread. But a person who seriously tells people that the world will end in nine years from today is mentally unstable. No one normal truly thinks that.

How does a mentally unstable barista like Ocasio end up in Congress? She uses her Puerto Rican ethnicity, talks Spanish to her mostly Puerto Rican district, and gets elected because the people there are too ignorant to realize that they have choices — two parties. She gets 16,898 votes in a primary in a district of 696,664 people. That is less than 3 percent of the district. She beats the other guy, a White guy whose district was changed and suddenly includes so many more Puerto Ricans and other Hispanics, by 4,000. And in that district the locals who do vote choose the candidate of the only party they ever vote for because they lack the sophistication to know they have choices. That likewise is how a fool like Maxine Waters keeps getting elected. Her district is worthy of her, and she of them. As a resident of Southern California, I have had occasion to drive through her South Central district several times — only during day hours, by the way, always with the windows up and the doors locked — and I have seen the layout of her district. That is how she gets in and stays in. She has used her position for great personal gain and wealth, while her constituents are among the poorest in the city. That is how it works. They keep voting for her because, if we can be honest, what do they know?

Likewise Ilhan Omar. She is a Somalia-descended bigot and hater who represents a district in Minnesota where Obama & Co., as did George W. Bush & Co., sent Somali immigrants to be packed. There are 32,000 Somali immigrants in Hennepin County, Minnesota, represented by Ilhan Omar. Think about it: how does a freezing-cold state like Minnesota end up with 32,000 African immigrants from Somalia? The Irish settled in Boston and New York. Jews settled primarily in New York, arriving at Ellis Island. Germans settled heavily in St. Louis, Milwaukee, Cincinnati. Poles settled in Chicago. Cubans settled in Miami. Mexicans along the southern border from California to Texas. Swedes in Minnesota. All this makes sense. But Somalians in Minnesota? Ya betcha, Bob? What — they flocked there because they missed the snow from back home in Africa? So Omar is secure in her seat. She can take millions of dollars in campaign funds, pay a guy with that money to do her publicity, sleep with that guy while he is married to another woman and while she is married to her brother or to whomever, pump more millions his way, then get him to leave his wife and she leaves her brother (though I guess they still visit on holidays), and then she marries the guy who is a millionaire with her campaign funds. And her constituents don’t care because they frankly do not know what is going on.

So we end up with a few quirks like those in Congress. The Jew-hater Rashida Tlaib representing a Detroit-area district comprised uniquely with a disproportionate number of Arab Muslims who hate Jews. The nut job Hank Johnson, who opposed our sending military to Guam because, if they all would be stationed on one side of the island, he expected they would cause Guam to topple over and capsize. There is Sheila Jackson Lee. In other words, when one looks at some of those morons and crooks on the Democrat side of the aisle, it makes Marjorie Taylor Greene look like a cross between Henry Clay and Daniel Webster by comparison.

The day will come, very possibly in less than two years, when the House returns to the GOP majority. On that day, if the GOP is in the right hands, the file may be called up from storage. And one by one, each of these crooks and bigots and haters then can be thrown off committees, just as they now have done to Greene. I hope it will be Rep. Greene herself who will introduce the resolution on that day. And I hope she will be on the committee that brings that resolution to the full House because I still would like to believe that Marjorie Taylor Greene can be educated a bit, to realize that California forest fires are caused by maniacally leftist forestry policies and irresponsible energy decisions and not by Jewish “lasers” from the sun” sent by “Rothschild Inc.”

I would like to think that Greene can be reached. Maybe not. Time will tell. Meanwhile, the record reflects irrefutably that Tlaib, Omar, Johnson, Lee, and Waters are beyond reach.
