The board of the second largest school district in Georgia, Cobb County, just voted 4-2 to adopt a policy to permit trained non-peace officer employees to carry weapons on duty on school grounds.

Final approval of any individual persons would rest with Ron Storey, the Chief of the School District Police.

A 2014 law allows this practice though very few districts have actually done it.  The suburban Atlanta district has about 107,000 students and 70 officers, at least one for each school in the district.

Hell, When I went to high school folks carried shotguns in their vehicles to go dove hunting before dark in the Fall. A teacher could grab you up and give you licks if you talked back. I was on the rifle team and we had a range under the fieldhouse. I saw the principal grab a kid out of a pep rally drag him out the door and told him to never come back. Turns out the kid had exposed himself. Our fight song was Dixie.
