Fiona Ma
Regular readers will remember I
wrote some time back about a lawsuit for harassment filed against the CA
State Treasurer, Fiona Ma, by a former employee of her office, Judith
Blackwell.
The beef has
just been settled by the state, though not by Ma. Ms. Ma is running for
Lt. Governor in 2026 and is, I am sure, happy to put this three-year
old case behind her. She is claiming vindication, and maybe she can get
by with that because she isn't paying out, I am, and every other state
taxpayer. The case was about to go to trial and is instead going away,
for $350,000 dollars. Ma's PR firm claim this as a "complete victory"
for Ma.
The DOJ has elected
to pay, calling this a "business decision" as opposed to an admission
of guilt. Ma asserts that she really wanted her day in court and is
unhappy the settlement was made.
