In 1630 the town of Trimountaine in the colony of Massachusetts changed it's name to Boston.
In 1813 the phrase Uncle Sam in reference to the United States first appeared in print.
In 1876 the James-Younger gang launched their disastrous bank raids in Northfield, Minnesota.
