Top police leaders in Rochester, New York's third-largest city, have retired en masse amid criticism of the city's handling of the suffocation death of Daniel Prude.
Police chief La'Ron Singletary, his Deputy Chief Joseph M. Morabito and Chief of Administration Mark L. Simmons are among those who have retired.
Mayor Lovely Warren said on Tuesday that the mass departure could include other senior commanders as well.
Prude, a 41-year-old black man, died several days after an encounter with police on March 23. His death sparked outrage and nightly protests after his relatives last week released police body camera video showing police putting a hood over his head to stop him from spitting and then holding him down for about two minutes until he stopped breathing.

COMMAND STRUCTURE OF ROCHESTER PD GIVES A HEARTY "UP YOURS" TO PRETTY MUCH EVERYBODY
The
Chief and both Deputy Chiefs of the Rochester, NY police department
have all announced their resignations. All will be gone by the end of
this month if not sooner.
The
chief has been especially vocal in his unhappiness about what he
describes an unwarranted personal attacks against him personally and his
department in general.
They are under some heat over the in-custody demise of an intoxicated nutter. Possibly deservedly so, possibly not.
1 comment:
There are a number of democrat governors and mayors who should be tried for treason. Their handling of these riots is criminal.
