SACRAMENTO DECIDES TO NOT DEFUND POLICE

by Bob Walsh

Acting earlier this week the Sacramento City Council has decided it would not be a wonderful idea to substantially defund either the police or fire department.  They MAY leave some non-peace officer or non-fire fighter positions that are currently vacant unfilled for a while to build up some cash for some warm-and-fuzzy stuff called participatory budgeting, but they were smart enough to know the people who pay the taxes and who vote in the area really want to have effective public safety agencies.

I honestly did not think that the Mayor, Darrell Steinberg, was that smart.  Of course maybe he just understand what side of the bread the butter is on.
