There
have been 54 more-or-less serious recall attempts launched against
Governors in the formerly great state of California. Only one has been
successful, that about 18 years ago. The current one, targeting the
God-Emperor Gavin Newsom, is starting to look like it will get onto the
ballot.
The current
petition push is running about 85% valid signatures, which is unusually
high. They need about 1.5 million VALID signatures, they have about 1.4
million total signatures right now. They have about six weeks to go.
Newsom's popularity and good-job rating has recently dropped from the
high 50s to the mid-40s. His shitty "do as I say not as I do" elite
attitude hasn't helped. Neither have the continual visits from the
fuck-up fairy on vaccine distribution and the god-awful fraud mess from
EDD, which has resulted in the state pouring hundreds of millions of
dollars out the door with pretty much zero checking. One single address
got over 1,700 unemployment claims paid. A buttload of prisoners
collected unemployment payments, either directly or indirectly.
The
man is an arrogant jerkoff with damn little to be justifiably arrogant
about. He treats the voters like peons who are too stupid to know
what's good for them. He is an asshole and deserves to be thrown out of
office.
Will we get
somebody better if that happens? Maybe. Maybe not. But at least
whoever we get will be aware that his cushy job is not all that secure
and maybe he should pay some attention to the people who put him
there.
