PLAGUE REPORT UPDATE FROM STOCKTON CA

by Bob Walsh

Some things are getting better.  It is easy to buy paper products now in stores.  Some things like Lysol spray are coming back.  They are now scheduling Covid vaccinations for people in tier 1B  (65 +) so I have a shot lined up, appointment only, in about two weeks.  I am now trying to change the date due to some scheduling issues and it is apparently totally impossible.  I could CANCEL: it, but not reschedule, until a hole opens up somewhere in the schedule.  In theory Sutter Gould has a couple of dozen locations setting up in the area.  In actual practice there are two, if you count 30 miles "in the area."

They are starting to set up convenient locations in CA like sports stadiums as vaccination centers.  They will hold a LOT of cars and accessibility and traffic control are pretty good.

They are also making more serious noise about reopening schools before the end of the school year, though I am confident that has more to do with the Gavin Newson recall than it does any actual desire to reopen schools.

Small arms ammunition is still in very short supply, though that is true all over the country, even though the factories are going full blast.

Gun sales, as measured by background checks, are almost double this past January compared to January 2020.  About 40 % of those sales are to new gun buyers.  About 40% of that 40% are to women.

Thanks to Joe Biden gas has already gone up about 20 cents per gallon in CA.  Probably all over the country for that matter.  Except maybe Texas and Oklahoma.

One nice thing about the ammo shortage, I can get into the range pretty easy.  Only us reloaders have any ammo to shoot.  I have to shoot for record tomorrow so I went to the range today to function test the weapons I will be shooting.  I am just a little OCD about that I guess.
