The
CA state prison at San Quentin is facing a fine of $421,880 from
Cal/OSHA for piss-poor handling of the Covid crisis with regards to both
staff and guests of the state. The fines were imposed just one day
after the IG released a report criticizing the prison system in general
and prison hospitals in particular over handling the issue.
OSHA
determined that the staff at SQ were not provided adequate training or
PPE and that the prison did not provide proper medical services to
exposed staff members.
The Dept. responded that they were getting better during the six months since the OSHA visits actually took place. That's nice.
