Alabama man attacks wife with broken glass, circular saw

An Alabama man attacked his wife with a circular saw and shards of glass, severely cutting her neck and throat, authorities said.

Kyle Young Waters, 35, is facing charges of attempted murder and first-degree domestic violence in Randolph County following the gruesome Feb. 3 attack at the couple’s home in Wedowee, an arrest report shows.

Waters allegedly threw his wife from an 8-foot loft onto a cement floor before stabbing her numerous times in the neck with “broken glass” and cutting her throat with a “circular saw,” the report states.

Deputies said Waters used a Ryobi circular saw in the horrifying attack, whose motive is unclear, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Donnie Strain told The Post.

“He has exercised his right to remain silent,” Strain said Wednesday. “It’s still an ongoing investigation.”

Charging documents obtained by AL.com show that Waters and his wife went to a storage building behind their home after having dinner. The couple had sex on a mattress in a loft there and Waters then pushed her out of the loft as she was looking at the ground below, authorities said.

Waters proceeded to slam the woman’s head into the cement floor before stabbing her with shards of broken glass, which she managed to wrestle away from him, records show.

Waters then grabbed a Ryobi circular saw and put the tool’s blade on her neck and sliced her throat, sending blood throughout the storage building, according to a criminal complaint.

“There was an excessive amount of blood at the scene and on the saw,” the complaint states.

Pieces of broken glass were also found covered in blood and Waters had several wounds to hands when he was arrested the following day, police said.

Waters’ wife, meanwhile, has since been released from a hospital and is recovering, Strain told The Post Wednesday.

Waters remained in custody Wednesday at the Randolph County Jail on $110,000 bond, online records show. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for Feb. 24, WVTM reported.
