HERD OF CYCLISTS SWARM COP

Sacramento State University has had modest problems of late with modest herds of bicycle riders getting stupid on campus.  They use various physical structures for ramps and obstacles and sometimes destroy property to make their own obstacle course on campus.

On Friday night a Campus Police Officer had an encounter with about 25 cyclists.  Instead of clearing out like they usually do they started riding circles around him and one of the cyclists attempted to ram into the officer.  The officer grappled with the cyclists and the rest of the mob attempted to retrieve him from police custody.  (That is the legal definition of lynching in CA by the way.)

Two other officers responded.  They took the riding the cop still had into custody and a second person who attempted to attack the cops, who got to do the funky chicken after being lit up with a electronic immobilizing device.

The first miscreant was taken to juvenile hall.  The second went to county, then to jail.  In the fight one of the cops had his body cam ripped off his shirt.  They have tracking devices in them.   The cops tracked it down but as of Sunday morning had yet to retrieve it.
