The
Caldor Fire, burning north and east of Sacramento, has now burned over
100,000 acres with only 5% containment. Hwy 50 is still closed. The
spot fire north of Hwy 50 has thus far been contained to about 200
acres. Smoke from the fire shut down the Reno airport for a few hours
due to visibility issues. The fire is threatening the Tahoe Basin.
The
Dixie Fire further north has now consumed about 725,000 acres and has
destroyed 1,247 structures, many of them single family houses.
